Edward F. Stopski, 87, of Beaver Dam and formerly of South Milwaukee passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012 at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Paul C. Stratman officiating. A visitation will also be held on Monday, November 26th from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam with graveside military honors conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146 of Beaver Dam.

Edward was born the son of Frank and Myra (Schram) Stopski on July 1, 1925 in Milwaukee. He was married to Betty L. Kilbourn on August 16, 1947 at Oklahoma Avenue Ev. Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Ed served his country as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. during WWII. He owned and operated an auto repair shop in West Allis until his retirement.

Ed was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He was a member of the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146 of Beaver Dam. Ed and his wife Betty bought a summer home in Beaver Bay Heights in 1966, and in 1986 retired and moved permanently to Beaver Dam. They were so happy and thankful for the years they spent at the lake with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They are memories that will never be forgotten.

Ed is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty of Beaver Dam; his daughter, Kathy (Bob) Stenson of Poynette; his three grandchildren: Noel (David) Weber of Lodi, Rob (Mary) Stenson of Glendale, AZ and Charity (John) Koltes of McKinney, TX; his nine great-grandchildren: Natalie, Nathan, Missy, Katie, Gloria, Alexia, Johnathan, Naomi and Caleb; his great-great grandchild, Mazie; two brothers- in-law: Donald (Janet) Kilbourn and Richard (Mavis) Kilbourn both of Milwaukee; his sister-in-law, Helen Awe of Verona; and further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Virginia (Ralph) Heft, and his brother-in-law, Glenn Awe.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.

Betty, I was saddened to hear about Edís passing. While there are no words to ease your pain, know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Betty & Family - I am so sorry for your loss. Ed is in a better place now where there is no pain. I know he will be greatly missed & fondly remembered. God Bless You All.
